There are some things on my mind:

1) Shouldn’t asylum seekers be given humane support until they are allowed to work. And, why does it take so long for that to happen?

2) Will Gov. Paul LePage ever grow up? He behaves like a spoiled child.

3) A message from Sen. Angus King says he must start asking for money now for re election in 2018. Citizens United has made a mockery of our elections. The opponents of Democrats can relax and swim in the money from the Koch brothers and their ilk.

4) It has been announced that in 2020 the U.S, $10 bill will go into circulation with a woman for the first time on paper money. The decision will be made this summer. I support Rachel Carson for her book “Silent Spring,” published in 1962; it led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency and to the nationwide ban on DDT.

5) I think of the song by Denean, a Lakota Indian songstress: “The earth is our mother; we must take care of her. The earth is our mother; she will take care of us.” I believe that climate change is occurring and, if it isn’t reversed soon, the Earth and its inhabitants will suffer greatly. The Pope said recently: “The ones that are suffering the most from climate change are those that are not causing the problem.” Society really should be cognoscente of the planet and what it will be like for future generations.
