FARMINGTON — The Board of Selectmen awarded a bid Tuesday for structural improvements and re-roofing of the Wastewater Treatment plant.
Gladu Roofing Company, Inc. of Lewiston, was the lowest of three bidders with a bid of $82,100. The work will be funded from the reserve account for capital improvements.
Other bidders for the work included Hahnel Brothers Co of Lewiston for $89, 600 and Kevin W. Smith & Son, Inc. of Gorham for $84,000.
In other business the board unanimously approved hiring of Paul Stanzel of Farmington as a Wastewater Operator I/Laborer for the wastewater department.
Stanzel has worked for Northern Lights for the past 19-years, he told the board.
The Board of Selectmen also decided to hold a public hearing on July 14, during their regular meeting held at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, to consider acting on amendments to the town’s traffic ordinance.
The first amendment would limit public use of two lots on the west side of Front Street. Owned by Franklin Savings Bank, the ordinance change would allow public use from 6 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
A second amendment pertains to a parking lot, also owned by Franklin Savings Bank, located on the east side of Front Street next to the “stairway” that connects Front and Main Streets. This would only allow drivers to park there for two hours at a time.
Overnight parking in any of the three lots would also be prohibited.
