Did I understand correctly that Gov. Paul LePage recently went to a school to talk to the children about bullying? The grand bully of them all?

The governor made 64 line item vetoes last week which very likely makes him the national king of vetoes. Both parties have steadily voted to override his vetoes.

His lack of reason and civility is directed at both parties since he has vetoed both Republican and Democratic legislation. He is so childish and immature that he took a small toy pig from a Christmas tree, squeezed it and accused the Legislature of (pork barrel) corruption.

The governor is not only a bully, but he is so out of step with municipal government that he threatened to deny General Assistance to towns that give GA to non-U.S. citizens.

Superior Court Justice Thomas Warren ruled that the Department of Health and Human Services over-stepped its authority in directing municipalities to stop providing General Assistance to certain immigrants, including those seeking asylum.

At the time, ACLU of Maine attorney Zachary Heiden said “it now is quite clear that DHHS acted illegally and unlawfully.”

The schoolchildren and the Legislature will survive.
