Joey Doiron took advantage of a restart with five laps to go Saturday night, winning the final battle of a race-long duel with Trevor Sanborn to claim the checkers in the 125-lap main event for the NASCAR Pro Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Doiron, one of the top competitors in Pro All Stars Series North, exchanged the lead with Sanborn 10 times during their terrific tussle at the front. Sanborn chose the inside line for the final restart, but Doiron gained the advantage and pulled away to the win.

Third place was an extended battle between Dan McKeage, Corey Bubar and Shawn Knight for most of the evening. McKeage slid back in the field following contact in the final five-lap sprint, vaulting Knight to third in his first ever super late model start at Beech Ridge.

Bubar, the defending winner in the longest weekly event of the season at the track, finished fourth, with Nick Cusack completing the top five.

Doiron, Bubar and Robbie Harrison won heat races for the field of 28 cars, largest of the season in Scarborough.

The Wildcat division also waged a 50-lap special on the program, with Jon Brill holding off Ryan Hewins for the victory. Hewins was bidding for his second consecutive win and third of the season. Mac Hannan Jr. rallied to third.

Don Morse denied a late challenge from Craig Smith for the 35-lap Sport Series triumph. Ben Tinker ran third.

Burgess best at Wiscasset

Jeff Burgess charged to another win in the 40-lap Pro Stock main event at Wiscasset Speedway on Saturday night.

Phil Richardson held off Scott Chubbuck, the driver with more wins than anyone in the history of the division at the high-banked coastal oval, for second. James Osmond and Kevin Morse completed the top five.

Ryan Chadwick (Thunder 4), Josh Bailey (NAPA Super Street), Kevin Girard (NELCAR Legends) and Alex Waltz (New England 4-Cylinder Pro Stock) also scored victories.

Chadwick kept Leandra Martin at bay for his latest win. Aaron Sevigny was third, followed by Curtis Anderson and Noah Haggett.

Bailey battled runner-up Kenny Harrison of Durham for Super Street honors. Adam Chadbourne was the other podium finisher, with Brandon Sprague and Zac Poland giving chase.

Girard continued his red-hot Legends campaign with a victory over one of the charter members of the traveling circuit, Bob Weymouth. Phil Brackett edged Ed Getty and Mike Humphrey for third.

Waltz topped Kamren Knowles for the checkers in the ultra-competitive 4-Cylinder Pro group. Jacob Hendsbee was third with Craig Dunn of Strong and Jeff Prindall of Lisbon in tow.

Shaw scores PASS win at Lee

Defending PASS North champion D.J. Shaw of Center Conway, N.H., scored his elusive first win of the season Friday night at Lee USA Speedway.

Shaw struggled with an overheating car and then lapped traffic during an extended stretch of green-flag racing to secure the victory.

Derek Ramstrom was second, followed by Jeremy Davis, top Maine finisher Doiron and Bryan Kruczek.

Other Maine notables in the field were Mike Rowe of Turner, sixth; Cassius Clark of Farmington, ninth; David Oliver of Standish, 10th; Travis Benjamin of Morrill, 12th; Glen Luce of Turner, 13th; Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, 14th; Ben Rowe of Turner, 17th; and Mike Landry of Oakland, 18th.

PASS next travels to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon for a 60-lap national championship event Sunday, July 5.

Oxford’s weekly racing scratched

Paying heed to a questionable weather forecast, Oxford Plains Speedway postponed Saturday’s race program, including a 150-lap main event for the American-Canadian Tour.

The ACT race was rescheduled for Saturday, July 25.

Oxford did get in a full program Wednesday for the NAPA Acceleration Series. The husband-wife tandem of Corey and Missy Morgan swept the proceedings, scoring wins in the Outlaw and Ladies divisions.

Corey Morgan held off Steve Moon and Michael Haynes for the Outlaw victory. Missy Morgan fielded challenges from Maggie Ferland and Shelby Shurtleff on her way to the winner’s circle.

Nate Dubuc held off Josh Straiton on a late restart to win the Runnin’ Rebel feature. Cam Childs charged from 18th to third after hitting the wall in the closing stages.

John Childs captured the flag in the Cruiser class. Ryan Farrar pocketed another Sport Truck win.
