Local student graduates from Colby College

WATERVILLE  — Craig B. Marshall, of Carrabassett Valley, was one of 483 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville on May 24, receiving a B.A. degree at the College’s 194th Commencement.

Marshall, who majored in American studies, is the son of William and Nancy Marshall, of Carrabassett Valley, and a graduate of Carrabassett Valley Academy.

Abbey Leigh Ellis named to spring 2015 dean’s list at Kutztown University

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Abbey Leigh Ellis, of New Vineyard, has been named to the spring 2015 dean’s list at Kutztown University. To be eligible, undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.60. More than 1,700 students were named to the list.

Zachary Smith named to dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College

PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. — Zachary Smith, of East Dixfield, has been named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College for the spring 2015 semester. Smith, who is majoring in forestry, earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction. Smith was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8.

Thomas College announces spring 2015 dean’s list

WATERVILLE — Area students who were named to the dean’s list at Thomas College for the spring term are:

Jay: Lindsey Allen, Shauna Gordon, Louis Krupp, Kelsye Smith.

Merit Scholarship winners announced

EVANSTON, Ill. — National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced approximately 2,200 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.

These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. An additional group of Scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2015 competition to approximately 4,100.

Local winners are Andre L. LaMountain of Brownfiled, who attends Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg and will have a probable career field in finance; and Max Bernard Kay of Industry, who attends the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, who will have a probable career field of industrial engineering.

Maine Students named to dean’s list at Southern New Hampshire University

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The following students from Maine have been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2015 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.500-3.699.

Brownville: Kayleen Kenney, Elementary Education

Dixfield: Kaylee White, Fashion Merchandising and Management

Freeport: Yun Huang, Accounting

Lewiston: Douglas Lalonde, Business Admin with concentration in Leadership; Ronny Morris, Business Administration; Alyson Pelletier, Communication with concentration in Public Relations

Topsham: Danielle Luedee, Business Administration.
