1941 – 2015

REDDING, Calif. — Denis Dean Corrin, formerly of Bryant Pond, left this world on June 13. “Den” died peacefully in his sleep after a long and difficult journey with cancer.

Den was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Aberdeen, S.D. His childhood was spent in Rapid City, S.D., and his professional years, as a psychologist, predominately in Bryant Pond. Den worked for the past decade as a teachers’ aide at French Gulch School in California. He loved working with children and watching them grow and mature.

Den loved nature. He knew bird songs, animal signs and the names of every plant and tree. He loved sailing his boat on Whiskeytown Lake. He loved working with wood and stone and built beautiful homes from his own ingenuity. He loved sharing music with friends and family. Den loved this life and this earth intensely.

Den is survived by his wife, Ann Muir Corrin; brother, Ken Corrin (Roberta); sisters, Jana Faye (Ray Stanton) and Kay Larson; children, Tanya Corrin, Laren Corrin (Krista), Greg Corrin (Emily Felt), and Denise Howard Corrin; grandchildren, Zachary Kimball, Olivia and Audrey Asnes, Hana and Louisa Corrin and Leela Corrin.

Services and celebrations will be held in Miller, S.D., June 30; the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bryant Pond, 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11; and by the UU Fellowship in Redding, Calif., 11:00 a.m., Aug. 1. Memorial gifts may be made to the Redding UU Fellowship or to Pilgrim Congregational UCC in Redding.
