GARDINER — Seth Thomas ripped a three-run double that helped Franklin County eventually score runs in the seventh inning, giving Franklin a 7-5 victory over Gardiner in an American Legion baseball game Monday.

Gardiner (2-2) was leading 5-1 after four innings when Franklin clawed its way back with two runs over the fourth and fifth innings and then scored four more in the seventh.

Franklin had 10 hits for the day and Sebastian Lombardi got the win on the mound after coming in relief for Ryan Pratt. Thomas Wing had three hits and Evan Roberts added two for Franklin.

Alex Curtis tripled for Gardiner and Dalton Therrien had two hits.

Bessey Motors 9, Pastime 3

PARIS — Riley Chickering smacked a three-run homer and Aiden Heikkinen got the win on the mound as Bessey Motors dropped Pastime 9-3 in an American Legion game Monday.

Pastime was leading 3-1 until Chickering belted his three-run homer. For Bessey, Matt Smith had three hits and Nick Bowie and Chickering had two.

In one of the oddest plays of the game, Carter Chabot belted a three-run homer over the fence, but it was ruled a two-run triple because Chabot didn’t touch home plate.

Tri-Town 5, Brunswick 2

POLAND — Tri-Town couldn’t get around Brunswick pitcher Charlie Lowell for six innings before erupted for three runs to beat Brunswick, 5-2 in a Legion baseball game Monday.

Tri-Town pitcher Mitch Davis, who struck out 13 and gave up just two hits, went the distance and got the win. Lowell went six plus innings inning before being relieved by Alex Larson.

Tri-Town’s Brandon Hubbard and Bill Bickford each doubled.
