AUBURN — Local artist Mike Jordan will return to the Auburn Public Library this summer for a two-session comic book workshop as part of the Teen Summer Reading Program “Unmask!” from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 21.

Teens who like to draw and/or write and are between the ages of 12-18 can be part of the staff that writes and illustrates their own group comic book.

Teens will create their own character, help create the villain and write and draw their own page as part of the overall story.  There will be snacks and prizes, and in the end, participants will go home with their own copy of the book, complete with everyone’s work.

Space is limited, and registration is required. Registering can be done through the library’s website at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org or by calling the reference desk at 207-333-6640 x. 4.  It is essential that teens attend both sessions; they should check their schedule carefully before signing up.

Teens ages 12-18 who haven’t yet signed up for the Summer Reading Program may still do so by stopping by the reference desk. Just for signing up to participate, teens will receive a voucher for a free Portland Sea Dogs ticket. Teens are also entered to win one of four finale prizes. This year’s prizes include a $50 gift card to Bull Moose Music, donated by Center Street Dental; a $50 gift card to the Auburn Mall; a Kindle Paperwhite, donated by Best Buy; or a pizza party and movie for 10. There are additional prizes for reading and for participating in activities and programs all summer long.
