1930 – 2015

LEWISTON — Norman J. Fecteau Sr., 84, a resident of Lewiston, formerly of Augusta, passed away peacefully Monday evening, June 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, following a long illness, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Augusta on Oct. 2, 1930, the son of Hermenegilde and Rose (Couture) Fecteau. Norman was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant.

Following the war, he was a hard and dedicated worker as a sales manager for the former J.J. Nissen Bakery for almost 40 years. His work ethic was instilled upon his children to follow as an example in their lives.

He was a lifelong member and past president of Le Club Calumet in Augusta. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed his golf buddies at Poland Spring Golf Course and meeting his cherished friends at local coffee shops. He was also very proud and supportive of the achievements of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Louise Cormier of Lewiston; one daughter, Monique Fecteau of France; four sons, Paul and wife, Christine, of Manchester, Jim and wife, Eileen, of Portland, Norm Jr. and wife, Patty, of Monmouth, and Maurice and wife, Ann Marie, of Gray. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Laurier; and one sister, Theresa Colby.
