FAYETTE — Come see what Fayette has in store for you at a Summer Open House on July 25th. Join the festivities at locations across the community to support Fayette’s non-profits as they showcase their work and provide a day of fun and delicious activities.
The library will teach visitors to use their ancestry program, have story hour for all ages at 10 am and (yum-yum) be selling cook books.
The Fire Department will host a chicken BBQ at noon. But the day begins with Fayette Fire Auxiliary holding their annual bake and RADA knive sale starting at 9 a.m. They will be celebrating their 25th anniversary with complimentary cake. Start your day with cake for breakfast 9 to 12 a.m. at the fire station.
Friends of Starling Hall has collected gift certificates and items from popular local businesses for our silent auction. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. donations from Maggie’s Farm, Clark’s Marine, the Apple Shed, Steep Hill Blueberry Farm, Depot Mercantile and Cranberry Creations will be open for bids.
Some of the local fine artists/craftspeople have donated beautiful wooden utensils, woolen sweater mittens, a handmade market basket, and artist-made jewelry. Donations of antiques continue to come in. Bidding starts at 11 with announcements of winners at 4 p.m. accompanied by, yes, more dessert.
Fayette’s Historical Society will show off our beautiful Starling Hall during the silent auction. Members of the historical society will lead tours and discuss the central position the hall held in community life for over one hundred years. Proceeds from the silent auction will go toward bringing the hall back to its former central role in community life.
More details will be forthcoming in future articles.
