Boothbay Harbor, Cabbage Island trip Aug. 10

HARRISON — Harrison and Bridgton Recreation will host a trip to Boothbay Harbor and Cabbage Island Monday, Aug. 10.

The trip will leave the Harrison Town Office at 8 a.m., exploring Boothbay Harbor, touring the harbor and lighthouse on the Bennie Allice, visit Cabbage Island, and dine at a Downeast clambake (chicken is available upon request).

The cost of the trip will be $82 and $72 for Harison and Bridgton residents. The price includes Coach transportation, boat ride and meal. Deposits of $30 are due at sign up and will be non-refundable after July 31. Balance is due by Aug. 3.

Whale of Sale open July 11, 12

The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association has set the dates for the annual “Whale of Sale” yard sale. The sale will be Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Corn Shop on route 117, just out of the village.

The club will be offering lunch this year. Hamburgers, hot dogs, cold drinks and whoopee pies along with homemade goodies will be on the menu.

The proceeds from this annual event go into the general fund, which funds high school scholarships, send several local youth to the University of Maine 4-H Learning Center at Bryant Pond for a week each summer and offer safety classes.

The association will accept donations to the sale. Drop off may be arranged by calling 207-966-3161 or 207-743-8044.

The club is meets the third Wednesday of the month at the club house, 744 Buckfield Road in South Paris, for a pot-luck supper at
6:30 p.m. followed by a business meeting.

Livermore hosts craft fair

LIVERMORE — The Livermore Community Building on Church Street will hold its first craft fair on Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sale items will include handmade gifts, including soaps and lotions, sewn items, food, jewerely, and candles. The Livermore Community Building Committee Members will have a baked goods table selling pies, whoopie pies, cookies, fudge, brownies and more. There will also be a raffle table with items to be raffled off at a later date.

All profits from the baked goods and raffle will go directly to the restoration and upkeep of the building. Custumers may book the venue for birthday parties, weddings, showers and family reunions.

Mount Blue High School Class of 1975 to host reunion

FARMINGTON — The Mount Blue High School Class of 1975 will celebrate its 40th reunion at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at UMF’s Olsen Student Center.

This is an open event, and graduates from all MBHS classes are welcome.

Dinner and music will be provided. Cost is $30 per person, and proceeds will benefit the MBHS Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club to meet

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s workshop is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m. at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.

There will be a demonstration on how to take off honey frames from the club hive, extracting, and bottling honey to sell at the Waterford World’s Fair. Participants should bring veils.

Grange supper set for July 11

JAY — There will be a public supper at the North Jay Grange No. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11.

Music will be provided by L & D Country, Linda Lee and Dona Whittemore.

Admission cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.

American Legion holds Texas hold’em tournament

LOCKE MILLS — A Texas hold’em tournament will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at American Legion Post 68, 595 Gore Road.

American Legion barbecue set for July 11

LOCKE MILLS — A chicken barbecue will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at American Legion Post 68, 595 Gore Road.

The meal includes baked beans, potato salad, rolls and beverages.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.

The meal is co-hosted by Greenwood Fire Department.
