Annie (Boies) Norton
1922-2015
Annie (Boies) Norton, 92, of Farmington, passed peacefully in her home on the evening of June 27, 2015.
Annie was born on Aug. 28, 1922 in Parkers Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada, one of eleven children of James and Mary (Taylor) Boies. She was educated in the schools of Fredericton and Boiestown, New Brunswick, Canada. As a young woman she worked at a drug store in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, as a cosmetician and eventually became one of the cosmetics buyers and attended sales conventions in Montreal and Toronto.
In 1960, Annie moved from St. John, New Brunswick, Canada to Farmington. On April 7, 1961, she married Charles W. Norton (“Whitey”) and together they owned and operated Norton’s Music Store on Church Street in Farmington, retiring from the business in 1979. Mr. Norton passed away in July of 2001.
Besides her regular work, Ann liked care giving and was kind to the elderly. She cared for her loving husband and his mother Maude Preston Norton, and her own mother. She kept them in their homes instead of nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, and eating doughnuts.
Annie is survived by her step daughter, Myrna Norton Moran and husband Murray Cohen of New Jersey; her three step grandsons, PK Moran, Tim Moran and John Moran of New Jersey; her sister in-law, Beatrice Boies of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; her niece by marriage, Hazel Doak of Farmington; her nieces, Betty Carmichael, Jane Brewer, Lisa Boies Embleton, Reta Russell, and Carol Parmagine, all of Canada; her special friends, Alice Walden of Greenville and sons, Kendall and Cameron; Corine and Robert Taylor, Loretta Doak, Johan Dittmer, all of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; and the little dog, Sophie Bair, that she loved so much and looked after many times and who provided her with much love and entertainment.
She was predeceased by; her parents, her loving husband of 40 years; her sisters and brothers; her special nephew, Nelson Doak.
There is a very warm and heartfelt thank you for the nurses, home health aides and volunteers of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice who enabled Mrs. Norton to stay in her home, and for their gentle presence and caring, and also for friends who helped to support her request to remain at home.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Farmington with Rev. John Tolman officiating. At her request there will be no visitation. Edward Gene Skibicki
1946-2015
Edward Gene Skibicki, 69, of Freeman Township, died on Sunday, June 21st, at his home.
Ed was born March 23, 1946 in Haverhill, Mass., a son of the late Bronislaw and Irene (Heroux) Skibicki.
He married Lucille Rheaume on Oct. 16, 1965, and together they shared 19 years of marriage until her passing. Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966, and served his country during the Vietnam War for 18 months, returning home in 1968. He was a survivor of the battle of hill 881.
Ed continued his education by attending Northeastern University where he studied polymer science and later went on to Princeton where he earned his PhD in chemistry. Ed worked as a chemist for Raytheon for many years. He married Barbara Strain on Aug. 20, 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Skibicki of Freeman Township; children, Daniel F. Skibicki and Lori A. Stivers; grandchildren, Sonya Skibicki of Freeman Township, Tyler D. Skibicki, and Nicole Guerin; siblings, Frances Davoli of Haverhill, Mass., Donna Muise of Haverhill, Mass., Judith Skibicki of Tucson, Ariz., Bennie Skibicki of Hanover, Penn.; a great granddaughter, Winter-Storm Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. SKIBICKI—died, Sunday, June 21st, 2015, Edward G. Skibicki, 69, of Freeman Township. Relatives and friends were invited to call on Thursday July 2nd, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938. A funeral service began at 4 p.m. with Father James Martel officiating.
Ruth “Betty” Louise Vallee
1923-2015
Ruth “Betty” Louise Vallee, age 91, formerly of Rumford, died peacefully on June 28, 2015, with her niece by her side, at the Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, where she has resided since December of 2014.
Betty was born on Sept. 6, 1923 in Farmington, a daughter of Lewis and Ruby Howard Fish. She was raised in Weld as an infant by her great-grandparents, Bill and Julia Horne until the age of 12, and then by her paternal grandparents, Daisy and Sherm Howard.
She attended schools in Weld and graduated with the class of 1942 from Weld High School. Betty held many jobs throughout her life. Her last job was at the Rumford Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
On May 21, 1957 Betty married Alfred Vallee in Dixfield, Maine. They resided at Kennebec St later moving to their final home on Maple Street in Rumford. They were married for over 30 years prior to Freddie’s passing on March 24, 1987.
Betty was known for her knitting and crocheting abilities. In her later years Betty enjoyed reading books of all kinds, spending time with her beloved kitties, Ashley and Annette, and visits from friends and family.
Betty is survived by her brother, Tommy Fish of Auburn; her sister, Muriel (Judy) Sawyer of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fish of Weld and Bonnie Fish of Swanton, Vermont; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, all of Massachusetts; numerous nieces and nephews; including two special nieces, Helen Hader and her husband Bill of Weld, and Beverly Carey and her husband Bill, of Rumford; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, her husband, her brothers Harry Fish and William Fish, step fathers, step mother, aunts and uncles, her half-sisters, Shirley Russell, Colie D’Avignon and Nadine Jaques, her step son Theodore Vallee and her step daughter, Minerva Mager.

Anthony F. “Tony” Nazar
1938-2015
Anthony F. “Tony” Nazar, 77, a resident of Wilton, passed away from this life at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, on Monday, June 29. His family was with him as he transitioned.
Tony was born on April 30, 1938, in Boston, Mass., to Marian (Bodley) and Vahe Nazar of Newton. He attended Newton and Wellesley public schools, graduating from Wellesley High School in 1956. He later went to Northeastern University, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees. He also served with the U.S. Coast Guard.
In 1962, he married Justina Chevone of Wellesley Hills, Mass., who has been his best friend ever since. The young couple moved to southeast Alaska, where they lived and taught for 10 years. A son, Matthew, was born in Wrangell, Alaska. They returned to New England in 1975 and in 1976, they moved to Wilton, where they have lived ever since.
Tony was a longtime active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and an amateur nature photographer, whose work is known to many of his friends throughout the state. He passed owing a great debt to the retinal team at Eye Care of Maine in Waterville, for keeping his vision good enough to continue that passion. Tony and his family also thank his other health care providers, who guided him through the past years and made his last months comfortable, particularly the nurses at Androscoggin Home Health Hospice.
Tony is survived by his wife, Justina, of 53 years; his son, Matthew and his wife, Becca; two beautiful granddaughters, Maddie and Ellie; his sister, Mick of Waltham, Mass.; several cousins; many in-laws; and millions of other friends of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. Nazar – Nazar- Anthony F. “Tony” Nazar, 77, a resident of Wilton, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. Funeral Service with Full Military Honors, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 11th at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
