OTISFIELD — The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church has announced it will award four recipients $1200 scholarships for the 2015-16 school year.

Scholarships have been awarded since 1987 and have supported many relatives of families attending the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church. The scholarship fund was initiated at the request of the late Rev. Gertrude deCoteau and the late Marion Culbert.

Fundraising started with the sale of needle point-covered brick door stops. There are currently two major fundraising events planned. The Flamingo and Fleas Sale at the Otisfield Community Hall will take place on Saturday, July 18, and the Christmas sale at the church will be held the first week of December.

This year’s recipients include:

Desiree Dunn, daughter of William and Dawn Dunn of South Paris, who will be attending the University of Maine; Alyssa Andrews, daughter of Jeffrey and Roberta Andrews of Norway, who will be attending Colby College; Dorothy Dyer, daughter of Garry and Deborah Dyer of Otisfield, who will be attending the University of Maine at Augusta; and Rachel Wandishin, daughter of Betsy Mayo of Casco and Ted Wandishin, who will be attending Rogers Williams University in Bristol, R.I.
