WATERFORD — The 165th Waterford World’s Fair will be held on Friday, July 17, Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19.

The exhibition hall will be filled with many types of homemaking, crafts, plants, flowers, photography and art work and entries for the 2015 quilt contest with a “holidays” theme. There will also be the quilt made from the 2014 contest on display with raffle tickets for sale.  The winner will be drawn on Sunday, July 18.

Granges, 4-H clubs, two rehabilitation centers and churches will have displays to show their accomplishments and handiwork. Various demonstrations will be held each day including spinning, rug hooking, basket weaving and card and tag making.

A pet rock contest for children ages three to eight will be held on Friday, July 17. Entries must be made between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The judging will be at 4 p.m. The rock should be decorated, named and include a short story on a 3-by-5 card. Parents can help the three-to-six-year-old children.

A chocolate chip cookie contest will be held on Friday, July 17. Entries must be made between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with judging to follow and awarding of cash prized and ribbons. The two age groups are six- to ten-years-old, with adult help, and 11- to 15-years old. Entries must have four cookies on a plate in plastic bag.

An apple pie contest and strawberry pie contest will be held on Saturday, July 18. Entries must be made between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  The pie must be a two-crusted pie, contain only the fruit of the contest and a recipe card submitted with the pie. The top pie in each category will receive a cash prize.  The other pies will also receive prizes.  The pies will be sold at the fair’s food booth.

A chocolate contest will be held on Saturday, July 18. Entries must be made between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The two age groups will be six- to 15-years old and 16 years and older. Entries will be include anything chocolate, edible and displayed in a unique way. There will be a cash prize for first in each group.
