CHESTERVILLE — Since beginning teaching in 1980’s, Patti Millette has made field work a part of the Mt. Blue High School earth science curriculum.
Part of that effort has involved the investigation of surficial land forms occurring on or around Cape Cod Hill in New Sharon, and more recently on Chesterville Hill and at a site on the Valley Road in Chesterville. The student work has involved measurement, sampling, and sediment analysis of the mysterious “dirt mounds” found in these areas. Dr. Millette, joined by students, will present the story behind their work with a slide show and discussion on Saturday July 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Chesterville Center Union Meeting House.
The Meeting House is located at 1 Borough Rd., at the corner of the Borough Road and the Zion Hill Road in Chesterville. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The Chesterville Center Union Meeting House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making community events accessible and open for residents of Chesterville and surrounding towns. For more information contact Carolyn at 778-3767.
