TOPSHAM — Joan Elaine Cook-Connor, 78, of 7 Haskell Circle, Topsham, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 9, after a sudden cancer diagnosis. She thankfully had the chance to enjoy all the love and benefit of close family gatherings before her demise.

She was born in Randolph, on Jan. 7, 1937, the daughter of Arlene (Dale) Cook, and Linwood Earle Cook of Litchfield. She graduated from Litchfield Academy and worked for Days Jewelry in Gardiner and then for State Farm in Gardiner, until her retirement.

Joan enjoyed knitting, reading, watching TV and spending time with family. She most recently loved her new home, her neighbors and found great joy in peaceful relaxation on her porch “with the clouds.” She was a past member of the Litchfield Fire Department Auxiliary and Litchfield Fair Association.

She leaves behind one daughter, Theresa M. Byras of Topsham; brother, Dana L. Cook and his wife, Nancy Carey-Cook, of Goose Creek, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Dale Cook (Marlene) of Litchfield; four adored nieces; two devoted nephews; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joan was predeceased by both parents; her beloved husband, James E. Connor of Litchfield; her eldest brother Dale W. Cook of Litchfield; and her youngest daughter, Patricia V. MacMullen of Lewiston.

She will be greatly missed by all her family and all who met her.
