1931 – 2015

LEWISTON — Russell Patten Burbank, 84, was born on June 6, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., and died on Tuesday, July 7.

He graduated from Harvard University Extension School and married Barbara Congdon in 1953. They had five children, John, David, Thomas, Jean, Steven; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was a reporter/editor for the Boston Globe and the Mass Teacher Association Magazine. After Barbara’s death, he married Carol Mae Washburn in 1983. Russ won numerous awards for his work. He enjoyed reading, writing and traveling. He and Carol traveled to 49 states and 35 countries. Russ lived in Lewiston for the last 12 years. He died with Carol by his side.
