LIVERMORE FALLS — A Naples woman critically injured in a motorcycle crash July 2 on Route 133 has died, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

Daveen Bell, 47, a bus driver in Regional School Unit 61 for 18 years, received severe head trauma in the accident and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to a GoFundMe Page set up to raise money to help the family with expenses.

Bell’s husband, Troy Bell, 49, of Naples, the driver of the motorcycle, remains in critical condition at a hospital, Steward said.

The couple were not wearing helmets, he said.

Bell was following a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Richard Buck, 60, 0f Wayne, near Pike’s Corner Oasis, police Lt. Joseph Sage previously said. At the same time, Buck attempted to make a right turn, Bell tried to pass him on the right and hit the truck with his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Sage had said. Buck was not injured in the crash.

Daveen Bell drove bus No. 26 in the Naples area for all grade levels, kindergarten through 12, Andrew Madura, RSU 61’s director of transportation, facilities & food services, said in an email Monday.

“She had a huge heart, infectious smile and was very well liked and respected by all,” he said. “She is and will be sadly missed by all.”

There has been a huge outpouring of support from her students and parents since the accident, he said.

“Daveen was one of those drivers that had a very positive outlook and loved her ‘kids’ on the bus,” Madura said.
