Bugs crawling around the library
MEXICO — Mexico Public Library will present BUGS! with bug enthusiast Jim Nutting Tuesday, July 21, at 10 a.m.
The event is part of the Terrific Tuesdays summer program for kids.
Nutting has his own studio and has been an exhibitor at BugMania at the Maine State Museum. He has been collecting insects since he was 5 years old and has a very impressive collection of live insects and also he will have on hand, glass cases with insect collections displayed inside. Although he will bring a large variety of insects, his specialty is butterflies.

Christian Women United to meet
PARIS — Christian Women United will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at First Congregational Church.
Music will be provided by classically trained singer Sarah Porter.

Fourth Thursday Poetry is July 23
The monthly meeting of Rumford Library’s poetry program is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Public Room of the Rumford Public Library.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Rumford Library.

Conjuring Carroll visits PPL
PARIS — The Paris Public Library will host Maine’s magician Conjuring Carroll at 1 p.m. Friday, July 24.
Conjuring Carroll’s magic show promotes the wonder of reading and how reading is a fundamental skill that lasts a lifetime. He accents that the most magical card is the library card.
Carroll Chapman, Conjuring Carroll, has been performing magic since 1995. In 2002, he began performing full-time and earned his Doctor of Magic from the International Magicians Society in 2006.

Eat Pie on the Porch
FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will host Pie on the Porch during the downtown Farmington’s Summer Festival Celebration Saturday, July 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Holman Parish House located at 227 Main St. next door to the Old South Church.
The menu includes fresh, home-baked pie or old-fashioned bread pudding with a cold beverage.
Live music will begin at 1 p.m.
In case of rain, the event will be held next door in the Old South First Congregational Church.
Cost is $4 per person, or $4.50 with vanilla ice cream, and proceeds will benefit the Church’s Newman Wing outreach and community service.
