FARMINGTON — The Planning Board voted Monday night to approve two site plan review applications for the Tire Warehouse and Tuck’s Ale House, planning assistant Cindy Gelinas said Tuesday.

Monro Muffler Brake Inc. plans to renovate the former Rite Aid building at 131 Wilton Road into a Tire Warehouse.

The company has locations throughout New England. It plans to lease the building and create six bays along the east side, a sales area and storage for about 3,000 tires.

It is anticipated the business will open in early 2016 and there will be about six to 10 employees. Store hours are to be determined.

There will be tire sales, balancing, mounting and alignments done in the bays but no other general repair work.

Tuck’s Ale House, a pub named for Cyrus Tuck who built at what is now 160 Main St. around 1850, was also approved. Nathan Morin and Nathan Paling plan to open the small pub by mid-August.

The plan is to create a historic downtown pub and incorporate Farmington’s history into the building and décor.

It is anticipated that the space will seat around 50. Morin and Paling plan to offer local beers and some food. There will be no kitchen but some steamed hot dogs, sausages and frozen meals called “Hotties” created by Marble Family Farms of Farmington will be offered.

The men’s mission, according to the application, is to create “a low-pressure bar with a classy look and a down-to-Earth feel.”

The business partners have purchased the building, which is between Shiretown Insurance and Enchanted Herbs and Botanicals. They have put in handicap-accessible bathrooms and an office on the first floor and are renovating an upstairs apartment, they said.
