FARMINGTON — A nine run outburst in the second inning carried the Farmington Falcons to a 9-1 win over the AYS Eagles, Monday evening, in the championship game of the Franklin County Babe Ruth League.
Ryan Nelson earned the win on the mound, pitching four hitless innings. Alex Philbrick hurled the final three innings in relief.
In the second inning the Falcons sent 13 batters to the plate. Nelson and Garrett Sullivan collected two hits apiece in the inning.
The Falcons raced through the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record, then won three straight in the league’s double-elimination championship tournament to capture the crown.
