KINGFIELD — Kingfield Festival Days opens Thursday, July 16, for four days of contests, music, food, arts and a parade.

The Herbert Grand Hotel will accept entries of vintage western Maine postcards and flowers for display and judging Thursday. Amateur photographers can show their work at the Rolling Fatties restaurant on 268 Main St.

At 5:45 p.m., chefs will bring their prize-winning dishes to a cook-off at the Depot Street tent, and visitors can sample their entries.

On Friday evening, join the crowning ceremony of Kingfield’s Honored Couple. There will be live music, an art walk, an ice cream social and a visit with this year’s honored couple. Teens can enjoy a glo-stick dance under the Depot Street tent at 7:45 p.m.

Saturday’s fun includes Ducks Over the Bridge race on the Carrabassett River. Both the Grand Parade down Main Street and the Kids Parades feature the Wild, Wild Western Maine theme.

Children can enjoy a bounce house, and all ages can play G-Force laser tag games. There will be artisan booths along downtown streets and a chicken barbecue under the tent on Depot Street. The inner tube obstacle course on the river and the So You Think You Can Dance challenge offer fast-moving fun Saturday afternoon.
