The other side of the story

To the Editor:

Many people respect and see Governor Le Page as one who stands up for what he believes in and doesn’t back down. Too bad some in politics stand for nothing but their own self worth.

There are two sides to every story and sadly most people too often follow the popular side even if they don’t believe in it. They don’t want to be seen as different.

Many people see the Confederate Flag as a symbol of Southern pride, heritage and history. When will some within our country want to do away with the American Flag many are asking?

Recently a university professor friend and writer and “Man of the Cloth” made the comment that a quote by John Osborne perhaps covers recent problems on the Confederate Flag best:

“Critics are a dissembling, contemptible race of people. Asking a working writer what he feels about critics is like asking a lamppost what he feels about dogs. What do you think about the flag issue was the question asked? ‘Don’t ever try to bring down the American Flag,’ I said!”
