Family cookout is July 22

SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner and the Youth Team from Hope Presbyterian of Fredericksburg, Va., are inviting area families to join in on Family Cookout and Movie Night Wednesday, July 22.

The activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with outdoor games in the Church yard, followed by a cookout at 6:30 p.m. and a movie at 8 p.m. in the Church pavilion. Families should bring a ball glove and a lawn chairs if possible.

The Church is located at 50 Main Street, Route 219.

Church to hold barbecue chicken dinner

DURHAM — The First Congregational Church will host a wood smoked chicken barbecue from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1.

Green salad, coleslaw, potato salad, homemade desserts, rolls and beverages will be served. The cost is $9 for those 13 and older, $3 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 5. The event is wheelchair accessible.
