1943 – 2015

AUBURN — Dianne C. Hammond, 71, a resident of Turner, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 17, at Hospice House of Androscoggin, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 26, 1943, in Livermore, the daughter of Cleon and Margaret (Tidswell) Sampson. She attended school at Leavitt Institute in Turner. On Feb. 4, 1961, she married Malvern Hammond. He passed away in 1987. She worked at DeCoster Egg Farm for many years and also packed apples at Cooper Farms. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating at Bear Pond Park. Dianne also enjoyed playing beano, going to the casino and playing cards. She was an avid sports fan, watching the Red Sox, college basketball, women’s softball and little league on the television. Dianne liked spending the winters in Florida, but above all else, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Landry and her husband, Randy, Brent Hammond and his wife, Andrea, Bambi Farina and her husband, Mike, and Bradley Hammond, all of Turner; three grandchildren, Nathan, Dylan and Evan; one great-grandson, Jack; longtime companion, James Irish of Turner; brothers, Arthur Sampson of San Francisco, Calif., Wayne “Skip” Sampson and wife, Edith, of North Turner; sister, Linda Gauthier and husband, Robert, of Turner; sisters-in-law, Goldie Sampson of Turner, Mildred Vashaw of Canton, Delores Hammond of South Paris; and brother-in-law, Forrest Hammond of North Turner; her aunts, Phyllis Richardson and Doris Russell and her husband, Lawrence, all of Turner; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert Sampson; sister, Joanne Magoon ; and several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and Hospice House of Androscoggin for the loving care and support given to Dianne and her family.
