PARIS — A Norway man faces felony assault charges after police said he used a wooden board to beat another man.
Timothy Ridlon, 23, was scheduled to be taken to Cumberland County Jail on Monday after a Norway police officer arrested him on July 16.
Last Friday, Ridlon appeared before an Oxford County judge on felony counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and assault. The charges were elevated because Ridlon had prior convictions of domestic violence assault, according to the police complaint.
Police were contacted by a witness who claimed they saw Ridlon attacking another person with a 2-by-4 board, according to an affidavit by Norway Cpl. Mitchell Shaw.
After initially declining to discuss the incident, the alleged victim later told police they had arranged to meet Ridlon’s ex-girlfriend, but were instead met by Ridlon wielding the board.
The person required stitches after suffering injuries to the head, face and arm, according to Shaw.
Ridlon denied the accusations and said he had neither seen nor contacted the alleged victim in some time, Shaw said.
Ridlon was arrested without incident and taken to Oxford County Jail. Ridlon, who was out on bail after being arrested in April for allegedly trafficking heroin, had bail set at $1,000 cash or a Maine Pretrial Services contract. He is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment in September.
