HARRISON — The Historic 1847 Scribner’s Mill Preservation will hold its 24th Annual Back to the Past celebration of old-time lumbering and homestead activities on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1 and 2.

On Saturday, Scribner’s Mill Preservation and the Loon Echo Land Trust will host horse logging and portable saw mill demonstrations by John Plowden and family of Plowden Horse Logging of Stow and Brian Grady of Sebago Custom Sawing of Sebago.

Plowden and Grady will showcase and discuss historic and current horse logging and saw milling methods at a log landing near the public roadway.

The educational demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Intervale parcel. For this day, the tractor-pulled wagon will make round trips to transport visitors to the demonstration area from the mill (ticket holders only) and back.
