Decked in white dresses and carrying green parasols, the women employes of the Lunn and Sweet shoe factory, Auburn, will parade with the men who will sport in white Fedora hats, canes and green and white banners from the factory to the Maine Central station, Lewiston. The procession will be headed by the factory band led by Charles Perry, the occasion being an outing at Lake Maranacook. This is indeed an innovation among the employes of this factory and so far the affair bids fair to be the largest field day of its kind ever enjoyed by the 800 shoe workers.

Joey Gamache Jr. was involved in an automobile accident Sunday in Lewiston that has put his September 7 World Boxing Association title fight against Brian Mitchell in jeopardy. Gamache, 24, sustained neck and chest bruises as well as cuts to his forehead and left eye after his 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity collided with another vehicle on Sabattus Street. “That fight’s in serious jeopardy as far as I’m concerned,” Gamache’s trainer, Tony Lampron, said. “I would suspect that it takes a month for a cut to heal so you can punch it, and that puts us two weeks before the fight. Even if you start banging on headgear that’s on that cut, it’s going to open up again. I have to have some strong assurances from somebody that it’s OK to train.”
