NORWAY — The Norway Healthy Community Gathering hosted a Community Gathering Festival Sunday, July 12, at the Unitarian Universalist church. An estimated 75 to 100 people participated by attending and meeting others in the community, bringing ethnic and traditional potluck dishes to share and providing professional performances.
Jack Gentempo served as the master of ceremonies and reminded folks about the importance of community through comedy and a cane dance. Susan Cairns and Steve Sessions, Dan Rennie, Gabe Gabrielson and Jennifer MacMahon sang, and Melvin and the Gang brought rock ‘n roll. Cynthia Riley told a story, Lisa Moore shared some original poetry about the town and the Neveah Dance group showed off its movements.
Everyone was invited to the Healthy Community Gatherings at the Alan Day Community Garden, 26 Whitman St., at 11:45 a.m. Thursdays for the next six weeks. Children younger than 18 can be dropped off for the summer meals program at 11:30 a.m. around the corner at the Progress Center.
