FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Republican Committee caucused Monday night to choose names of nominees to be submitted to the governor for his consideration of appointment to a vacant District 2 seat on the Franklin County Commission.

The late Fred Hardy of New Sharon served in the position for 22 years before his death July 4. Hardy had been in his third year of a four-year term.

Caucus Chairman Bill Crandall said once he gets all the paperwork from the four nominees, their names will be sent to Gov. Paul LePage’s office.

The nominees are David Archer of Chesterville and Ryan Morgan, Peter Tracy and Charles Webster, all of Farmington, he said.

Once the documentation is submitted, the governor will select one person to fill the vacancy.

“Everyone at the meeting acknowledged the great loss in leadership with the passing of Fred,” Crandall said. “He will be sorely missed. A moment of silence was taken to honor his service.”
