JAY — The Jay Village Water District has issued another boil-water order, which is effective until a break in a waterline on Main Street is fixed and water is restored.
The order only pertains to water district customers who lost water on Hyde and Spring streets and Forest Circle. Those customers need to boil water after water is restored. Water samples will be taken to an Augusta laboratory to be tested for E. coli and coliform bacteria.
The waterline broke as a result of construction on Route 4 on Wednesday, district Treasurer Ronald Moreau said in a release.
A crew was working on repairs at 4:45 p.m. and water was anticipated to be restored to all customers within an hour.
It is the third boil-water order the district has put out recently while Route 4 is being rebuilt and new waterlines and sewer lines are being installed.
