PARIS — Major Teresa J. Drag was honored by state Rep. Lloyd “Skip” Herrick, R-Paris, with a Legislative Sentiment on behalf of the 127th Legislature in recognition of her 20 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps. The presentation was made at a gathering of friends and family at the Paris Hill Community Hall in celebration of Drag’s retirement.
Drag was born in Indiana and grew up in Maine. She graduated from American University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1994. She graduated from Officer Candidate School in August 1996.
In June 2007, she was promoted to major and earned a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff – Fleet Seminar Program.
She has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. She is also authorized to wear the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Navy Unit Commendation.
