Grange holds weekly yard sale

WATERFORD — Waterford Grange No. 479 is hosting a craft and yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer on Route 35 near the North Waterford Post Office.

Items for sale will include handcrafted knit, crotcheted and sewn items, decorations, as well as books, toys and more. Come outfit your camp or your college dorm room. There’s something for everyone. Items will change weekly.

Proceeds will enable us to support charitable organizations and make needed repairs to the historic building.

Daughters say goodbye to leader

NORWAY — Members of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Tents 8, 17 and 19 met at the First Baptist Church on Paris Hill to say goodbye to Marilyn Jones, president of Tent 19, Stoneham, and senior vice president of DUVCW Department of Maine.

Jones will soon move to South Carolina to be near her family.

A dinner was served with a special cake.

Community Fun Day planned

BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Community Fun Day sponsored by Faith Bible Chapel is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Municipal Building, 34 Turner St.

The event will feature free food, music, bouncing house, crafts and a grab-bag for children.

A rain date is scheduled for the following week on Saturday, Aug. 8.

L.L. Bean schools at MWP

GRAY — L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery School staff will lead a hands-on camping demonstration for families Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray.

L.L.Bean will set up a model campsite using equipment for participants to see and try out. In addition, there will be exhibits and displays about the schools.

As an added bonus, there will be a raffle for a free backpack and a gift certificate to L.L. Bean during the demonstration time period.

Bridgton Hospital thrift shop holding clearance

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, located on Main Street adjacent to Reny’s, is hosting its end-of-summer clearance sale beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Beginning Aug. 4, everything is half-price. Bags can be filled for $2 from Aug. 10 through Aug. 15.

The shop will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17 and 18, to restock with fall merchandise.

The shop features clothes as well as housewares. The hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Weary Club holding annual meeting

NORWAY — Members of The Weary Club will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in the public meeting room at the Norway Town Office for the annual meeting.

The meeting will discuss updates on the activities of The Weary Club. Members are encouraged to attend.
