LIVERMORE FALLS – About 25 firefighters from three towns responded to a fire at a vacant house late Wednesday afternoon at 15 Baldwin St.
The cause is under investigation, fire Chief Tim Hardy said Thursday.
A neighbor saw smoke and reported the fire at about 5:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, flames were between a bulkhead and the basement door below it, he said.
Firefighters put it out quickly.
There was no electricity at the house, and it was not a lightning strike, he said. The fire damaged the basement door.
The house has been unoccupied since a fire damaged it in September 2013. It was ruled accidental and it had begun in the attic ceiling near a light. There was heavy damage to the attic and smoke and water damage to the first and second floors, Hardy said at the time.
Buffie and John Crocker owned the home then and are believed to still own it, Hardy said Thursday.
It has been unoccupied since the fire.
