To the Edge VBS planned
JAY — Cornerstone Baptist Church of North Jay will be having Vacation Bible School, “To the Edge: Encounter the God of the Universe” Monday to Friday, Aug. 3 to 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be puppets, skits, games, Bible and missionary stories and refreshments. Classes will be for all ages through adult. Registration is each evening at 5:30 p.m. Transportation is available.

Preserving the Harvest workshops planned
FARMINGTON — Preserving the Harvest workshops are set for Thursdays, Aug. 6, 13 and 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fairbanks School, 508 Fairbanks Road.
The first workshop will discuss dehydrating meat to make jerky and bread-making; the second will discuss dehydrating apples, tomatoes and herbs, vacuum-sealing, blueberries and kale and freezing marinara sauce; and day three will discuss canning fruit, jam and dill pickles.
Donations will be thankfully accepted for admission, and registration is limited to 15 people.

Play museum announces movie night
WILTON — Western Maine Play Museum has announced it will hold a family movie night at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
The movie will be “The Lego Movie.” The evenings will feature refreshments and glow-in-the-dark jewelry.
Families are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Bathroom facilities will be available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The cost for tickets is $4 for a single person, or $10 for a family. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 9.

Jay Historical Society to hold open house
JAY — The Jay Historical Society will hold its open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on Jay Hill Road in Jay.
This year’s theme is “Honoring the history of Jay High School.” All Jay High School principals, teachers and alumni from 1925 to 2011 are invited to attend, as well as the general public, for a day of reminiscing and re-acquaintance with classmates and friends. Attendees are encouraged to bring their memorabilia and pictures to add to the displays.

Fish and Game to hold open house
WILTON — The Wilton Fish and Game Association will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, with several events.
Safety and technique in archery will be offered by a certified instructor, open to ages six and older, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be a bow building demo at 11 a.m.
Trap shooting with Charlie will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
One shot challenge, gatling gun and shooting gallery will be offered in the Conex box from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lunch will be provided for a fee by the Youth League.

Poker tournament Aug. 8
GREENWOOD — A Texas hold’em poker tournament will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Jackson Silver American Legion Post 68, 595 Gore Road.
Doors open at noon.
Buy-in cost is $50 and $5 for license.
There will be a 50/50, pull-tabs and high hand ticket option.
Food and refreshments will be available.

Honey Bee Club to host potluck
NORWAY — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s annual potluck summer gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the home of John Sinkler, 16 Bill Howe Road.
Those attending should bring their favorite dish and a lawn chair. The club will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages. There will be an open hive, weather-permitting, attendees should bring bee veils.

FARMINGTON — Trinity United Methodist Church will host a public supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
Baked beans and a casserole supper will be served.
The cost for this event is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 12 and older. The event is free for children younger than 12.
