FARMINGTON — Police said a New Sharon woman failed to stop and struck a driver at a red light on the Wilton Road on Friday afternoon.

Police said the driver of the vehicle that was struck, Jerry Parlin, 65, of Farmington, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar ambulance to be examined.

Amanda Mooar, 31, was charged with failure to maintain control of her vehicle, Farmington police officer Derrick Doucette said.

Mooar was traveling toward Farmington and didn’t apply her brakes at the light in front of Hannaford, witnesses told Doucette.

Parlin had stopped for the light when Mooar drove full-speed into the back of his 2002 Ford Ranger pickup, tore the truck cap off the vehicle and pushed the truck down the road toward the Big Apple.

Mooar was driving a 2008 Chevy Equinox and had her two children, Blake Mooar, 1½, and Grace Mooar, 4, with her. No one in the Mooar vehicle was injured, Doucette said.

He said both vehicles were destroyed in the accident.
