Arts center to host photography workshop

DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center will host a workshop titled “Looking Through Your Photos” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at 50 West Main St. 

This workshop is aimed at getting participants to ask “What am I photographing and why?” They will learn how to critique other photographers’ photographs and use visual analysis techniques to think about how they photograph.

Those attending should bring two or three of their own photographs (printed will work best) and a box of crayons.

A suggested donation of $10 is recommended.

Weld to host chicken barbecue

WELD — The Masonic Lodge will hold its annual chicken barbecue at the Town Hall from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.

The meal will consist of half of a chicken, salad, roll and a soft drink.

The proceeds will go toward its Charity Fund to benefit its two-year degree scholarships and the Imagination Library, which gives one book monthly to local children from birth to age 5.

Meals may be ordered in advance from Dave Latham at 207-585-2131 or the day of the event at the farmers market. Orders must be picked up by 5 p.m.

Wilton to hold supper

WILTON — There will be a public Masonic supper at the Harland M. Harnden Masonic Hall, 70 Bryant Road, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, to benefit the building fund.

Roast pork, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls, homemade pies and beverages willl be served. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 children younger than 12.

Turkey supper is Aug. 15

PARIS — A turkey supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at VFW Post 9787, 58 Main St.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

BOLSTERS MILLS — A chicken pie supper will be held on Sat., Aug. 15, at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, Bolsters Mills Road, Bolsters Mills Village. The first seating will be at 5 p.m. with a second seating at 6 p.m. A third seating will follow as needed.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under age 12.

Supper includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert, and beverages. The building is air conditioned and handicap accessible. Reservations accepted on Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon by confirmation.

Pancake breakfast slated in Harrison

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions will hold a pancake breakfast under the tent on the shore of Long Lake from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Long Lake Park. The breakfast will offer a variety of pancakes, french toast, sausage, juice and coffee. Adult price is $8  and $5 for children under age 10. Proceeds are used to provide services that the Lions Club renders to the community.

Stephens High ’50 luncheon

RUMFORD — Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1950 are invited to meet for their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, at the River Valley Grill, 1371 Route 2. All members and their guests are invited.
