FARMINGTON — Police say a Farmington man was arrested after he passed through a police roadblock and refused to stop Thursday evening.
Richard Storer, 19, was “subsequently charged with failing to stop at a police roadblock, furnishing marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia,” Sgt. Edward Hastings IV of Farmington Police Department said in a news release.
Maine State Police and the Farmington Police Department joined resources to conduct a motor vehicle safety checkpoint on Route 2, also known as the Farmington Falls Road, at the Farmington-New Sharon town line on Aug. 6.
More than 375 vehicles were stopped. Of those, 22 motorists were checked to ensure their sobriety was safe for driving, he said.
Three drivers were charged with operating under the influence and removed from the road, Hastings said.
The checkpoint was funded through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety 2015 Evidence-Based Impaired Driving High Visibility Enforcement Grant.
“We (State and Farmington police) would like to thank everyone for their patience with these details,” he said. “Clearly the results of the enforcement efforts do help to make the roadways safer.”
