AUBURN — SMART Baby Workshop for parents, sponsored by Advocates for Children, 1 to 3 p.m., Auburn Public Library, for new and expectant parents. SMART stands for sensory, motor, attachment, reading and temperament. Free admission, registration not needed.

AUBURN — Planning Board meeting, 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers on the second floor of Auburn Hall. Topics include recreational land uses along North Auburn Road, creating medium-density housing zone in New Auburn and continued discussion of adaptive reuse.

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council chambers on the bottom floor of Lewiston City Hall. Workshop is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Topics include the Shriners Parade Route on Sept. 19 and a discussion of paid trash collections. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m. and topics include parking for child care facilities and purchasing two Oxford Street lots near Simard-Payne Memorial Park.

WEDNESDAY, Aug. 12

AUBURN — Wednesdays in the Park series, 10 a.m., Hasty Gymnasium, Pettengill Park. Concert, “Hoot N’ Annie,” mix of traditional American music, folk songs and humor, including vocalists, banjo, fiddle, accordion, drums, washboard and nose flute. Band members perform while telling jokes; those attending may find themselves dancing to lively music. Sponsored by Lewiston and Auburn recreation departments.

AUBURN — Summer concert by Auburn Community Concert Band, 7 to 8:15 p.m., Festival Plaza, downtown. Concert theme: “Take Two!”

AUBURN — Auburn School Committee, workshop to talk about additional state funding, 6 p.m., Council Chambers, Auburn Hall.
