The Weary Club to meet
NORWAY — Friends and members of The Weary Club will meet from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, for coffee and time to catch up on what everyone has been doing this summer.
Those interested are invited to come and enjoy a cup of coffee and a doughnut.
Christian Women United luncheon
PARIS — Christian Women United will hold a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St.
Jewel Clark of Bethel will be the speaker and singer.

Glatz to speak at PCHS meeting
PARIS — Larry Glatz will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, Aug. 20, meeting of the Paris Cape Historical Society. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the museum of the society at 77 High St.
Glatz will speak on Joseph Penley, a veteran of the War of 1812. The meeting will be followed by refreshments. All are welcome to the meetings of the society.
Groundbreaking has taken place at the museum to provide additional space for our activities and displays. Completion is expected in Autumn.
The society has discs available for sale, which cover Norway Pine Grove Cemetery and Riverside and Riverside Annex cemeteries. They may be purchased at the museum during meetings or on Thursday afternoons.
Phillips Historical Society announces hours
Mexico Library to host tea party
MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls ages five to 11 at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Calvin Lyons Hall.
Those attending will meet American Girl Kit Kittredge, a 1930s Great Depression-era doll. Girls who attend will work on a craft and participate in activities from that era. A tea party will have real China cups and light refreshments of foods popular at that time.
Every girl who attends may enter a drawing to win a miniature Kit Kittredge collectible doll, and also her introductory book, “Meet Kit.”
Any American Girl dolls are invited to attend with their owners. Although not necessary, girls are invited to dress in the style of clothing that was popular for girls in the 1930s or to just dress in the clothing style of 2015.
RSVP is encouraged by Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Benefit motorcycle ride set
JAY — AMVETS Post 133 will host a benefit motorcycle ride Saturday, Aug. 22, to raise money for the Travis Mills foundation in order to help Maine’s veterans. This will be a poker-style run starting at the AMVETS in Jay. Sign-ups start at 8:30 a.m. with the ride leaving at 9 a.m., going to 302 West Smokehouse in Fryeburg, ending back at the AMVETS in Jay.
The ladies auxiliary will be offering breakfast in the morning. They are also having a barbecue and dance for riders, featuring Maine’s country music band. Cost is $10 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Travis Mills Foundation.
