JAY — A Wilton man is accused of having sexual contact with a girl younger than 16 years old and threatening her and her family if she told anyone, Detective Michael Mejia said Thursday.
Mejia arrested Dwight Stanley, 52, on Wednesday on a felony charge of unlawful sexual contact and a misdemeanor charge of terrorizing.
A conviction on the sex charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The Police Department received a complaint last week and Mejia launched an investigation. An interview was set up with the Children’s Advocacy Center and the girl. The victim told police the contact had been ongoing since September, Mejia said.
Mejia also interviewed Stanley.
Stanley was being held without bail Thursday morning at the Franklin County jail in Farmington, a corrections officer said.
