Vile. Inhumane. Barbaric. Immoral. Those are just a few words I can think of to describe Planned Parenthood’s latest atrocity — the sale of fetal tissue from aborted babies.

Those same words could be used to describe those in the U.S. Senate who voted to continue funding that evil organization to the tune of a half billion dollars a year.

Sadly, but not surprisingly, both Maine senators, Susan Collins and Angus King, spoke about the great need to continue funding Planned Parenthood (Sun Journal, Aug. 4), as if there are no other health care centers that could provide legitimate services for women. Of course, someone else would have to kill the 300,000-plus babies every year if Planned Parenthood went out of business.

It says something very frightening about a nation that allows such hideous practices to happen in this day and age. It’s even worse that elected officials can’t distinguish right from wrong.

As America continues to turn away from God and embraces a godless culture, I am reminded of the words in Galatians 6, verses 7 and 8: “Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction.”

There is hope for this nation, but that hope is not found in the government, or even in human wisdom. It can only be found by submitting to a sovereign God and repenting our wicked ways. He waits patiently, ready to forgive.
