DIXFIELD — A weekend chock full of  free country music and classic cars  is on tap at the Countryfolk Music Theatre on Route 2 in East Dixfield on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 and 6.  “This will be a true Countryfolk reunion after so many years,” Countryfolk Theatre operator Larry Bisbee said.

On Saturday,  vintage autos will be on display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., deejays and live bands will provide music. Popular Livermore-based Off The Hill will perform during the car show with classic 50s-60s tunes. The group includes Alan and Gaylene Rich of Livermore, Kirk Lundstrom and Paula Kaiser of Lewiston and Dona Whittemore of Farmington.

A five-hour country jamboree will follow the car  show, with new talent performing every 30 minutes.

The bean supper begins at 5 p.m. and the 50s and 60s dance with live music from Gambol Creek will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sunday will feature six hours of country music and the awarding of Countryfolk youth music scholarships. “Over the past 16 years we have been able to award cash from donations to 36 youths. Many of them have come back to perform as our special guests,” Bisbee said.

“This is a free public event and we are also inviting the 250-plus musicians who have performed here over the years; cast members of “Barefoot Country Girl” movie; friends and volunteers of Countryfolk; youth music scholarship winners, West Central District YMCA youths ( now all grown up) and members of the 1959 Road Runners Hot Rod Club of South Paris as well as owners of vintage autos from several car clubs in western Maine,” Bisbee said
