OH Duplicate Bridge
OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met at 9:15 a.m. Friday Aug. 28, in the recreation building on King Street in Oxford. A 12-table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.
Finishing first N/S flight A were Denny Raymond and Jim Dickens who also were first in flights B and C; second in A were Mike Newsom and Misha Tomic; third were Mike Quinn and Mike True; fourth were Connie and Ron Reynolds. Finishing second in flight B were Milt McKeen Jr. and Jim Krainin; third were Marjorie Levesque and Laura Chandler who also were second in flight C; fourth in B were Carolyn and David Ehrman who also were third in flight C; fourth in B and C were B.J. and Steve Cavicchi.
Finishing first in flight A E/W were Rosemarie Goodwin and Luke Merry; second were Barbara Newcomb and Nancy Farmer; third were Pat Soule and Georgette Jewell, who also were first in flights B and C; fourth in A were Diana and Frank Ferland, who also were second in flights B and C; third in B were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; fourth were Carol Curran and Barbara Vanderzanden.
There will be another game Friday, Sept. 4, same time and place. All bridge players are cordially invited. A partner is always guaranteed.

Mexico High 1959 plans lunch
RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at River Valley Grille.
Spouses and significant others are welcome.
Rumford Area Quilters to meet
RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street for its first meeting of the season.
A demonstration of sleeping bags for the homeless will be presented and “fun fabric” will be available for fire-victim quilts.
Quilters should bring summer projects for show and tell. All area quilters are welcome.

Shaw to speak at Whitman Library
BRYANT POND — David Shaw will be the guest speaker at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Whitman Memorial Library.
Shaw will tell about his adventures in the Amazon region of Brazil, showing slides and artifacts. Those adventures included working with pastors of Brazilian churches, fishing for piranha, hunting alligators and visiting a water buffalo farm.
The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.
Maine AllCare to meet Sept. 10
RUMFORD — The River Valley Chapter of Maine AllCare will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Rumford Public Library.
The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the group’s summer activities and continuing efforts to educate the Maine public about the ethical and economic benefits of a universal state-wide health care plan.
The meeting is open to anyone who is interested.

Snowshoe Club cribbage starts
RUMFORD — Snowshoe Club cribbage will start weekly games on Thursday, Sept. 10. Single games will be played every Thursday starting at 6 p.m.
