SABATTUS — A Yorkshire terrier found dead near its Bowdoinham Road home earlier in the week was killed by another dog, not shot as originally believed, police said Thursday.
Sabattus Police Chief Anthony Ward said his department and the Lisbon Road Animal Hospital investigated the death. Reported bullet wounds were actually canine teeth injuries, according to a news release.
Wilson, a 12-year-old Yorkshire terrier, was found near his family’s Bowdoinham Road home Sunday.
On Tuesday, Danial Sabine posted a Facebook report about the grisly death of his dog. The post went viral on social media, with some area pet owners expressing anger and concern about the death of Wilson.
According to the Sabattus police press release, investigators consider the case closed.
