WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris has announced its September worship services and welcomes worshippers back after the summer break to a very full and enriching worship service schedule.

Services are at 9 a.m. Sundays from September to June followed by refreshments. The church offers a wide variety of topics that are uplifting and thought-provoking — and often fun. Worship services are provided by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson for at least two services per month and by guest speakers and the worship service committee.

Sept. 13: Summer sabbatical will end and the new church year will begin at the traditional Water Communion. Those attending will bring a small amount of water from a place that is special to them. At the appointed time during the service, one by one, worshippers will pour water into a large bowl, sharing why the water is special. The Rev. Stephenson will lead.

Sept. 20: Beverly Stevens, a longtime church member will provide an in-depth description of the Church’s stained-glass windows.

Sept. 27: Vocation and Calling will be led by The Rev. Fayre Stephenson. There isn’t a big difference between Webster’s definitions of “vocation” and “calling.” Traditionally, “vocation” is defined as a job or occupation and a “calling” as work people feel compelled to do whether or not it be paid. The service will explore the differing ideas of vocation and calling and how each affect lives, spirits and the life of church.
