1949 – 2015
LEWISTON — Fernand D. Gosselin Sr., 65, of 4 Mitchell St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born in Lewiston on Oct. 7, 1949, he was the son of Dewey and Rosa Querti Gosselin. Educated in local schools, he married the former Mona E. Dallaire on July 26, 1969.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and after returning to Lewiston he went to work for Hahnel Bros. for several years. He later went on to work at Bath Iron Works for over 35 years, retiring in October of 2012.
Fern was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt and fish.
Besides his loving wife of Lewiston, he is survived by two sons, Jesse of Lewiston and Fernand Jr. and wife, Diane, of Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Stacey Hathorne of Gardiner; three brothers, Daniel and wife, Anita, of Lewiston, Jean of Oxford, and Ralph and wife, Carol, of Scarborough; a sister, Jacqueline King of Lorton, Va.; four grandchildren, Adam and Trevor Hathorne, and Chace and Mia Gosselin; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Henri.
