1929 – 2015

LEWISTON — Carmen G. Martin, 85, of Lewiston passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 30, 1929, a daughter of the late Wilfrid and Veronique (Deschaine) Rivard. She attended Lewiston schools. On April 25, 1953, she married Laurent Martin. Together, they raised their family and were very involved in the Knights of Columbus until his death on Aug. 2, 2009. She was a machine operator for Maine Electronics until her retirement.

Carmen enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and most especially, loved taking her children to the beach on Sundays when they were younger.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Albert and husband, Mark, of Lewiston; two sons, Paul Martin and wife, Diane, of Greene, and Donald Martin and wife, Marlene, of Lewiston; three sisters, Jane Landry of Auburn, Pauline Pomerleau and husband, Luc, of Lewiston, and Lorraine Drouin and husband, Richard, of Lewiston; two brothers, Normand Rivard and wife, Yvette, of Poland, and Robert Rivard and wife, Marguerite, of Mechanic Falls; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jake, Adam, Brad, Sheena, Jason and Mark Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Laurent Martin; a son, Mark Martin Sr.; and two sisters, Priscilla and Marcelle.
