FRYEBURG — Police surrounded a Main Street home Wednesday night after receiving a tip that a woman was being held inside against her will.

A Fryeburg man was arrested after the teenage woman reported her situation from her cellphone, police said Thursday.

Andrew Connelly, 29, of 399 Main St., was arrested on charges of felony kidnapping and gross sexual assault, but only after police surrounded the two-story home and then stormed in to make the capture.

The victim, an 18-year-old from Farmington, N.H, was held against her will for several hours and forced to engage in sex acts, police said.

“The suspect met the victim through a dating website and brought (her) to Fryeburg only a few days ago,” said Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin in a news release. “The victim had no cellphone service but was able to reach out to a friend on social media using the Wi-Fi on her cellphone and alert her of the situation.”

The alleged victim was taken to Bridgton Hospital to be examined, police said. Connelly was taken to the Oxford County Jail where he remained Thursday night without bail.
