The annual dinner of the Auburn Cornroasters, an organization older than the majority of its members, was held at Mt. Gile, East Auburn, yesterday. About 40 members were present. The party arrived at the park at ten o’clock. “Chef” J. H. Voyer prepared the dinner, a typical “Cornroasters” banquet. The menu included turkey, lobster, chowder and roast corn. The session lasted until mid-afternoon when the Cornroasters returned to the city.

The Auburn Police Department was on round-up duty again today. Shortly after 8:30 this morning an Allen Avenue resident notified police headquarters that three horses were seen galloping through his back yard. Officers Albert L. F. Rogers (no relation to “Roy”) and Ronald B. Dyer were dispatched to the scene, and “on foot” managed to corral the strays after some time. The owner could not be immediately contacted by authorities. The animals were taken to the nearby Merrill Haven Farm until the owner could be notified of the incident.

A dozen Livermore Falls firefighters spent the weekend training on extrication techniques, using both hand tools and the Hurst Power Tool, better known as the “Jaws of Life.” The hands-on training was made possible through the donation of wrecked vehicles from Larry Chicoine, Rene Cloutier, Hilltop Garage and Henry Grover. This course, part of on-going training, was needed for the several new firemen in the department and as a refresher course for the older members.
